Life is Good

I've had some questions about my hubby and why he leaves so I'll address them real quick. He is a merchant marine which means he works on ships, however he is not in the military. Right now he's on an oil tanker and his schedule is 75 days on, 75 days off. It's a crazy schedule but really, it's all we've known (we actually met on a cruise ship we both worked on). Anyways, I thought it was important because I've gotten a couple of comments that were absolutely wonderful, but I am not a military wife and I feel strange being put on the pedestal that those amazing women belong on. I don't have to say goodbye for more than three months at a time and more importantly, I don't have to fear for his life while he's gone. Regardless of whether or not you support the war effort, it's astonishing really. I have a few girlfriends whose husbands are overseas and their strength blows my mind!
So life is good. I have a great family, wonderful friends, a beautiful home, the ULTIMATE husband, and recently (today) purchased this:

Orbea Aqua Dama TDI (with Campagnolo components)

Those hudz are soooo fugly! I had them change them out to black.

Much better!!! I'll probably change out the water bottle cages eventually too. I decided to keep the saddle though. I figured it would be easy to spot in transition.

New goal: Half Ironman. 2010

Love the bike. And I am planning on a 1/2 iron, too, in 2010. I am working hard on my swimming and am getting better and better! Glad "life is good"!

Great bike! In my opinion, you can't go wrong with anything pink :)

oooooooh! Nice bike. Love the Orbeas. Though the habit some manufacturers have of putting pink on something so they can call it a "girls" makes me crazy.

HELLO lovely!

I so wanted pink!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't wait to hear which HIM you choose. You know I would love for you to do the one I'm doing but understand it might conflict with other goals =).

Can't wait for you to get started on training so i have a virtual training buddy.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!

Nice ride! Sounds like you have some fun races to train for!

I did wonder if your hubs was in the military, but I'm sure it's still hard having him away for those chunks of time.

Thanks for your comment on my funky post, everything you wrote is really rang true.

Jennifer and Kevin are my faves on Top Chef too, I think Jen could win it if she stops doubting herself and gets rid of the shaky hands! Did you notice how red her face gets when she's at judges table?!

Your bike is GORGEOUS! And yes - smart to have a seat that'll be easy to spot in transition.

Cannot wait to follow you on your 70.3 training!!!

Ok, I am not much of a biker, except for the occassional recreation, but that is a nice looking bike. Love the color of the seat, but it really looks painful. Good Luck with that! Ha ha

That is soooo cool girl! I told my coach just this morning that I wanted to try a tri! Of course, I told her that I just wanted to do a sprint. I'm a puss. Which one are you doing?

Why is it that all girl's bike have some sort of pink in it??? I bought a new really nice road bike a year ago and I couldn't find anything that didn't have pink on it somewhere. Too funny.

Keep me posted on your tri!!!

YAY for HIMs! Alisa, Tara and I are doing one next year too!! I can't wait to hear all about your training.

Pretty new bike - I LOVE the pink!!

You might not be a military wife, but you are still strong as hell to be able to say goodbye to your husband for 75 days. That's tough. My husband works 24 hours on, 48 hours off, and I think that is awful. I can't imagine 75 days.

Love the bike. I like the seat. I can't wait to follow you on your training! I'm going to do my first triathlon June 5, 2010. They finally posted next year's schedules! Whoo hoo!

Good luck and kick ass!

Thanks for your comment on my blog race report! (and all the 'that's what she said's" LOVE IT!)

We were interviewed for the race website (supposedly) so I'll post it if they upload anything.

I am not a cyclist, but even *I* know that's a CUTE bike! Great race goal with the 1/2 IM too!!

Oooh half ironman!? Do it!

Your new bike is awesome!!! I obviously love the seat haha

As for your question on my blog, I can go 15 minutes in the other direction and still be in my town, but I would have to take the highway to get to Eric's in 15 minutes. We both live on the side of our respective towns that are closer to each other haha

Awwwww yeah b*tches! It's on!!! You are going to KILL it with that machine. Nice work! I agree on the pink handlebar decision-gag. Also I agree about military wives-unbelievable strength and conviction-epsecially with kids involved. They are amazing! But don't see yourself short, it is hard to be away from your hubby so long-you are incredibly strong too!

P.S. Which one are you doing? Ahem, there is a new one in BOULDER!!! August. Sign up. Do it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the bike! I'm signed up to do a 1/2 IM in 2010 as well, so it will be great to watch you go through training and compare notes :)
