I have been MIA from the blogosphere for a while. Last week was a very rough week for me emotionally and physically. In short, I miss my husband terribly. He has been gone for over 2 months and this is the time frame for me when even the slightest inconvenience turns into a meltdown. Over the last couple of weeks, I've to deal with some real drama, and without my hubby to lean on, it was only magnified. I don't expect my girlfriends who get to spend time with their husbands every night or call them whenever they want to understand the lows of this lifestyle but I've gotta tell ya - I've been feeling a little abandoned by them. I mean is a phone call too much? Usually the last couple of weeks I'm just trying to survive.
bottom line - If anybody out there has a girlfriend who's husband leaves town a lot keep them in mind every once in a while. Throw a phone call their way. Invite them to coffee or dinner or anything that involves time away from a lonely house. Because trust me - if they aren't calling you, it's only because they're down and out and they don't want to drag you down with their mood.

Enough of the pity party. Here is a quick run down to catch up on my workouts:
Last week:
Monday: 4 mile recovery trail run
Tuesday: 4 x hill repeat
Wednesday: off
Thursday: 5k tempo run
___ran at 9:09 average pace (after a long 6 mile warm up)
Friday: off
Saturday: 12 mile LSD
___Ran with a friend of mine who was faster than me. I slowed him down, while he sped me up. I ran this too fast. Ran the first 6.6 miles at 9:58 pace (20 seconds faster than MP). We stopped to check the map and stretch out, fuel etc. and I didn't hit the lap button so the Garmin recorded and overall pace of 10:35 - but I was actually about 10:00. This was a little too fast for me as my legs were tired (way to tired for a 12 miler) for a couple of days.
Total miles for the week: 37.85

I am way way way behind on your blogs so I apologize for not being a very good reader and commenter, but I am getting caught up.

I've said before - I can't even imagine how sucky it must be to go without your husband for such long stretches! I get all angsty & lonely when mine is gone more than 1 night in a row. I'm so sorry! If you ever want to get away to PDX for a weekend, let me know! We can run & drink wine & check out Hagg Lake!
Great job keeping up w/ the workouts in the midst of the turmoil - even when I know that's what keeps me sane, that is often the first thing I drop (generally in favor of more wine drinking).
Sorry you are feeling so down. Two months is a long time. When does he come back home? Try to stay positive and strong.
Great job with all the workouts. I am sure they help clear your mind. Hang in there.
Hang in there. I know it's tough to be without your husband. Time drags. When is he going to be back?
Well sonofabitch...if you only lived closer, I'd drag you're arse into my workout hell;) Sorry, I'm sure it does suck ass. No two ways about it.
I'm so sorry to hear you have had a rough couple of weeks. As you have read in my blog, my hubby is a firefighter and is only gone every 3rd day which I have a hard time with sometimes, so I cannot imagine what you go through. You are such a strong woman -- physically and emotionally!
Well, shit girl - I'll call yo' ass up anytime!
I'd understand if you don't want to give your phone # away to psychochicks though ;)
Kidding aside - 2 months is hella long time. I'm sorry your hub's still away - how frustrating!
Wow. Try to hang in there. That was a great post, gives me new perspective about friend's whose hubby's go away (like you). Great advice for us friends to follow.
When does he get back? What's your last name so I can look you up on facebook? Not as good as a call but it's something!
Hang in there! I second what Amy said about your coming down for a weekend...ANYTIME!
I'm certainly feeling lonely with mr. pi gone and he's only been gone 7 days, in total he'll be gone 12.
Great job on the runs! I'm always looking to you for new workouts!
I was wondering how you are doing! Sorry about the tough week and the (un)supportive girlfriends. I live in a very friendly neighbourhood and everytime I spouse is away, we "take care" of the spouse and kiddies left behind. That's how it should be.
Your training continues to go very well. I bet those 6 sub MP pace miles are going to be helpful in the long runs! Be good to yourself, Ana-Maria
P.S. It's hard for me to be without my husband for a couple of days, so I get how you feel when not seeing him for over 2 weeks.
hang in there girl. :( I would totally hang out with you if we were closer. I'm sorry things suck right now.
On another note. Great job on all the great workouts. :) I know that a good run can help you out and I hope you can find the comfort in running and working out.
Sorry you're feeling so down:( I can't imagine how hard that is! Great job on your runs!!
What the hell does this man of yours do that takes him away for two months?! Sister... no wonder you run for wine! My goodness... I know exactly how you feel about the girlfriend thing. I feel neglected a lot if I don't get enough attention from them... especially when times are tough. Email relationships do wonders, though. If you ever want to vent or talk.... type me a line or two. I love your blog, therefore, I love you! Way to go on your runs this past week! I'm with Chic Runner... I hope they bring you comfort in your time of lonliness. If not... I hope the wine does a better job!!
P.S. I believe Beaumont is where Foot Loose was filmed.... but (you're not going to believe this)I have never seen the movie. (I know: who hasn't seen Foot Loose?!)so I'm not positive.
Beaumont is in the land of the hurricanes... we get hit by almost every one! You may have heard of us that way, as well. I'm crossing my fingers that this year will be a quiet year. We shall see.... Have a good one!
Loooook girl, your blog is amazing and you and your runs kick ALL crazy types of ass! GO you.
Awww Kristen...hang in there! I can totally sympathize. My husband and I lived apart for about 7 months while we were transitioning our move from Missouri to Colorado. It totally sucked and I missed him terribly. Stay positive; hopefully you will be together soon!
Great run by the way!
BTW-feel free to have pity parties whenever needed. That's what we are here for!
Big J goes tuna fishing for a few months every winter - so I know how bad it sucks to be alone. Some times are harder then others. So - if you ever feel super shitty again - just hop on a plane and come to the beach. I always have an extra room!! And plenty of wine!!
AWESOME job on the mileage!! That is great!!
Thanks for the reminder to reach out to friends! I get so busy but I know I should just make the time.
Hope you're doing better!
Awww, that breaks my heart. I'd call you if we were friends and talk about trashy Hollywood gossip. :o)
Good luck, and congrats for pushing through with all the issues.
hang in there girlie... lots of hugs to you right now :( chris was gone for 2 nights last week and i didnt know what to do with myself, i cant imagine what you are going through! hang in there, it will pass and he will come home! in the meantime keep up your great workouts!!
(((hugs)))
That's got to be so rough not having your hubby around, I'm sorry :( One of my friends is preggo and her husband just got sent back to Iraq. I don't call her nearly enough, and this post made me realize that...so thank you and hang in there!
