Randomness

Lot's of stuff going on in my head this week. In no particular order....... Conjugal visit: Cross your fingers but I think I get a conjugal visit this weekend. My hubby's ship is supposed to be in Port Angeles Saturday and Sunday. The plan is drive up Saturday and spend the night. Come home Sunday. Cross your fingers. This changed two times already and I can't take the emotional roller coaster anymore. Up (excited), down (pissed). Speed work: Tuesday's speed workout was psycho (in a good way). I love speed work. It's my absolute favorite workout hands down. I'm too lazy to run down the details and I'm sure none you you care about it as much as I love doing it so I'm sparing you ;) In a nutshell I did TEN MILES total = w/up, plyos, core circuit, 4 x 1 mile, 3 x 400 The runner's high ran into the next day. OWS: This week I have been swimming like a fish. Triathlon season is full force so I have lots of people to swim with. I have swam twice at the lake this week already. It's my new favorite spot apparently. SEALS training: Besides the OWS I went to the pool yesterday to work on my open flip turn. This is new to me and it taking work to get it. I can do freestyle flips, but the butterfly and breaststrokes are different. It's weird to have to think about technique again. I'm liking it though! Also working on the breaststroke. Honestly, I have no idea what I look like. I've had a couple of college competitive swimmers give me tips but clearly not my best stroke. Also, on the pull ups front - I've been hitting that pull up bar like an animal. Those take so much work! I am going to hit three by August 8th if it kills me. Tri-bug: I have totally caught the tri bug but there isn't anything I can do about it right now. It's all about the marathon for me until October. I found this little piece of sweetness and I'm so down. I think I had a little bit of an orgasm while watching the video of the bike pre-ride. Bike course looks low on the technical scale. Portland peeps -- WHO'S DOWN for 2010?? Just watch a few minutes. Questions for the peanut gallery: Do any of you get massages? I'm thinking of getting one. How do they affect your endurance training? Do you recommend them? Tonight schedule: core circuit, hill repeats.

Hoping you get that visit!

I don't get massages. Sometimes I wish I could afford them, but I can't.

I am so down for the xterra at Hagg Lake. I briefly considered adding it to my schedule this year, but then remembered that between a job, grad school AND marathon training, adding something that requires that intensity of training would be stupid. So 2010 for SURE! :)

(btw - I'm super interested in your speedwork, since I steal all your workouts!)

Ohh! I hope you get the visit!!

Holy open water swim! I live right on the freaking ocean and don't do that many ows. Actually - the only time I really do them is race time!! :)

Massages - I just can't bring myself to spend the $$ for one. I figure I'll treat myself to one after I do a full IM one of these days!!

I'm right there with you on the speed work. Love it! And I know in the long run it will really pay off! 5K this weekend - so hopefully I'll see some improvment!

Hope the visit works out. I can only imagine how difficult it must be not see your hubby for so long...
You are a workout machine, awesome, good for you! I love details, by the way.
I have never gotten a massage(except from my husband), I use the roller a lot. But, people love them! Ana-Maria

Good luck on gettin' some!

I occasionally get messages, but it's a rarity. I got one post-marathon and one last week after a crazy travel trip. Make sure you don't have plans for a major run the rest of the day. Drink plenty of water too.

Ha...I totally wish I could get massages on a regular basis. I usually just stick with stretching and yoga, which does not sound nearly as nice. And yay for tri-bug!

I'm with the Gazelle I'm all about your speedwork plans, keep em coming!

As for the Tri, I've so caught the bug. I can't get enough of swimming and biking...as for the running, I think that's the one I'm struggling being excited about. Your speedwork/circuit helps, I need something to break up track work, I can't just do straight 400s/800s. I would like to try 1600's but I'm not quite there yet.

I'm not much of a mountain biker I've decided so no xterra for me but I'll watch!

I may be close to your 'hood in late Sept for this: http://www.racecenter.com/blackdiamond/olysprinttri/index.htm (think my hubs is going for the duathlon)

P.S. Massages...wish i could get them all the time. I've had a few. Definitely plan them for after a long run (when the next day is light or rest). That's when I've always done them and it helped with recovery.

Hope you get the visit!!! I've actually never had a professional massage! Only the massage my finace gives me! Ha! But I'm sure they are totally worth the extra $$! You've been working really hard and deserve it!!

Good luck on that visit. Must be frustrating.

I get massages about once a week when I'm training a lot. Usually the afternoon before a rest day. A good deep tissue/sports massage takes some getting used to. And will usually leave your muscles tired/weak for a day or so. they are so worth it.

I do get massages. It's my one luxury. I get it once a month - after the longest run of the month. I do shower before I go. haha. And I love it. Totally helps my headaches and the nots in my neck and shoulders.
